The language barrier in Seoul can make it difficult to communicate any concerns or queries that you may have when acquiring a service. It can also make it difficult to understand anyrules and regulations which may have an effect on you. It is an idea therefore to conduct some brief research into acquiring any services you feel you may need in Seoul beforedeparting. This is a brief guide to renting a car in Seoul.

License

In order to hire a car in Seoul you will be required to produce a valid driving license from your Car rental hirecountry of residence as well as a form of photographic ID, generally a passport.

Age for driving in South Korea

For the majority of the companies in Seoul the minimum age requirement is 21 years and the driver must have at least one year of driving experience.

Deposit and credit card

As with many car hire companies around the world, you will generally be required to provide a recognised credit card in order to secure the hire of the car. This is to cover any damages which may occur.  

Cost is higher

Be prepared to pay more than you might expect to rent a car in Seoul. The demand for car hire is not as great meaning that companies must charge higher prices.

Consider hiring a driver

As driving around Seoul can often be difficult you may wish to look into hiring a driver for the day. The benefits are that the driver will be conditioned to the driving conditions and will also know their way around the city. You will also be able to relax and have a drink.
