Sunan-Pyongyang-Airport, North Korea
Sunan-Pyong Airport is situated in the south east of Korea and is approx 25 mins car journey away from the city centre. In recent years a number of the flights from the airport have been cancelled due to poor numbers, including many of the flights to China as well as those to certain parts of Europe. Despite this, Sunan-Pyongyang airport is one of the busiest airports in North Korea. The main bulk of flights from the airport at present are domestic and are popular with people whose families who are separated by the north-south border.
One of the main features of Sunan-Pyongyang airport is the business centre which has a number of conference and meeting rooms which are available for hire and are popular with businessmen from the city who can meet delegates directly from the airport, conduct their business and put them straight back on the plane.
Sunan-Pyongyang Airport has good local transport links with regular buses running between the airport and the city centre, as well as a taxi rank. There is also a large car park at the airport which users can pay to use in advance and enjoy the convenience of being parked so closely to the terminal.
In terms of retail opportunities, there are a number of souvenir shops around the airport as well as a good size book shop where people can purchase a range of literature to enjoy on their flight or during the preceding wait. The restaurants and eateries around the restaurants sell a mostly local basic dishes and cuisine.
